Short Desciption
This project bring together 6 Special Schools from EU all with a slightly different area of focus and expertise but all school are aware of the social isolation of their pupils. Our project aims to tackle this issue and enable our pupils to play a more productive and involved role in our European society. Our efforts aim to ensure we raise skill levels of these vulnerable students and have a direct and life long impact on the connectivity with society in general.

Christmas Greetings from Schulzentrum FIDS Vienna
Merry Christmas in the different languages - students from Thornfield school , Northern Ireland UK
We looked up the distance between our different
countries, found the flags (I hope they are all correct).
We looked up how to say Merry Christmas in the different languages, I hope you recognise these greetings.
The pupils chose a country to research. They
then searched the internet for the population of that country, its capital
and copied and pasted a picture from the country and added it to their
Word Document.

Svima šalju iste želje: mir, sreću i zdravlje. Nadamo se da će se želje ispuniti!
Christmas (and
project) atmosphere in our school! In order for our friends from the project to
get acquainted with traditional Croatian Christmas songs, the students sang the
folk Christmas song "Rejoice, peoples" which is sung in all parts of
Croatia. Along with that song, they also sang a song that everyone knows, but
hasn't heard it being sung in Croatian before.
A little help in the variety show was provided by the professors and the
school principal.

What are the objectives we would like to achieve?
Social inclusion to enable pupils to exchange information on the individual traditions and cultures of our 6 differentcountries. This will involve the creation of a European tree (created by the lead school Thornfield & in Europeanblue with the trunk covered in our European stars.) The branches & leaves of the tree will be populated with information about our various European cultures and traditions by each country, with individual branches allocated to individual countries. This will increase the social inclusion of all our participating pupils and also the staff. Another key objective for the project is the development of key and basic competencies. The exchange of information between our students will take many forms letters and pen pal opportunities, it will take the form of emails and will also involved video conferencing, These opportunities address disadvantage and disability as they will be supported via staff who will ensure the level of exchange is appropriate to meet the abilities of our special school students and be structured so that the challenges of disability and disadvantage can be over come. It is intended that a collection of the correspondence between our students will be collated in a correspondence file and this file shared at a local level amongst neighbouring school and also with the education authority in our owncountries. Staff development will be a key objective in the project development and a training file will be produced by the partnership and copied for all its participants, this file will log the training focus over the plan period and also serve as a reference file enabling staff the revisit the various branches of professional development and training rolled out during the project. Examples of this will include social skills training, ICT focus, e safety, behaviour management & Autistic spectrum disorder support. This training and file will map out the professional development offered to staff and also ensure staff capacity is developed to ensure lessons cascaded to pupils are innovative, interesting and up to date with recent trends and current approaches. By the project end we will have a clear record of revised teaching approaches in operation. An assessment of the pupils work on the project initiatives and areas of focus and an assessment of the contributions and ICT skills base on the 5 E`s of UK ICT develpment ie Explore, Exchange, Exhibit, Evaluate and Express . Additional concrete examples of this work will demonstrate a raising of staff skills in the use of Green Screen for e.g. to invgorate lessons and higher quality exchanges of information by students These approaches will demonstrate the the progress our students and staff have made in Social inclusion, development of key & basic competencies for all , addressing SEN disadvantage via participation and the celebration of successes addressing disability through the successes of our disabled pupils and their a record of their achievemen.
Motivation of our project
Funding will enable the opportunity for schools to meet with other branches of the education system and compare structures.
